DOCUMENT TROUBLESHOOTING

I have installed a new document but it does not show up in the document list

I can open my document, but the "B/C/V" buttons do not show up

This usually indicates that the navigation index has not been installed or is in a different directory.  First go to the DOC menu, and choose "Orphaned files" to see if the navigation index for the document shows up.  If it does, click on it, and let the program move the navigation index file over to the same directory as the document file.

I can not see the footnotes in my scriptures

Footnotes are only available in scriptures that have been downloaded by MMSWeb.  The basic scripture set that comes with MarkMyScriptures does not include them.

If you have downloaded the scriptures with MMSWeb and installed them, one thing to try is opening the PREFS menu and choose "Footnote Visibility".  Make sure the footnote visibility options are checked.

The footnotes are in a file that ends with fn.  If you have access to a file viewer for your Palm (or File Manager for Pocket PC) browse to the location of the document file and see if the corresponding Fn file exists (i.e "New Testament Fn" for document "New Testament").  The footnote file is usually located in C:\program files\mmsweb\files directory if you need to install it manually.

QUESTIONS ABOUT REGISTRATION CODE

What is registering?

Development of MarkMyScriptures, MarkMyScripturesCE, and MMSWeb is made possible through users like yourself registering your copy of the product.  Registration costs $17.50 for MarkMyScriptures; $17.50 for MarkMyScriptures CE, or $12.50 for MMSWeb.

When you register, you provide the user name of your device (hotsync ID for Palm, or owner ID for Pocket PC and BE-300), payment information, and an email address which is used to notify you of your registration code.  (Your email address is not shared with others).  In return you receive the registration code which unlocks the program fully, lifting the 5 underline limitation, the 5 topic reference limit, and removes the registration button from the document viewing page.

I didn't get my code / I lost my code -- how do I get my code?

You can click here to enter your email address and look up your code online.  If you can not find it with this utility, email us at code@skimware.com to request a new code.  Please include information that will help us locate your order, such as name, approximate date, email address, city, etc.

Do I need to purchase a new registration code if I change from a Palm to Pocket PC?

Because of the time required to develop for and support the Pocket PC platform, we are selling MarkMyScriptures CE as a seperate product.

Do I need to buy a separate registration code for my wife or husband?

Each palm user should seperately register their own copy of MarkMyScriptures

USING MARKMYSCRIPTURES

How do I bring up the MarkMyScriptures Menu while using MarkMyScriptures?

You must have a document open and be viewing it to bring up the MarkMyScriptures menu.  You can tap in the upper left corner of the screen to bring up the menus; or you can tap the menu button (Palm users)

What if I have trouble getting underlines to work properly?

On Palm devices, realignment of the digitizer is needed from time to time.  To do this, find the "Prefs" application.  Tap on it, and then select "Digitizer" from the pulldown menu in the upper right corner. Carefully tap on the points when asked, and the digitizer should be more accurate.

Another tip: When underlining, draw through the words as if you were crossing them out, instead of underlining.

I deleted one of my scripture files, and now all my files are gone

If you use the Palm's delete function to delete a document, it will delete all documents on the Palm.  It does this because it thinks you are trying to delete an application, so it deletes all related files.  Mark files and Topic files should not be affected, so all you need to do is reinstall the document files.

TROUBLESHOOTING MMSWEB

How do I get the latest MMSWeb files?

Click "Refresh List" button to make sure your MMSWeb list contains the most recent files available at lds.org.  If you see a document on the lds.org website but can't find it in MMSWeb, email us at mmsweb@skimware.com to request addition of the title.

I can't select files for download with MMSWeb

If the first five files are selectable but none else are, the registration code has not been entered.  Just select one of the grayed-out files, click install, and enter the registration code you purchased for MMSWeb.
