How do I install MarkMyScriptures to my device?

Palm users: Download the mms.exe file from the Downloads page. Save this file to your computer. When the download is complete click "Run" or "Open" in the dialog box.  Or use your My Computer icon to browse to the saved file and double click it. Follow the steps in the auto installer and then download and install one of the scripture files from the downloads page, either LDS.exe or KJV Bible.exe. Use the same method to install the scripture file.

CE users: Download the mmsce.exe file from the Downloads page. Save this file to your computer. When the download is complete click "Run" or "Open." Or use your My Computer icon to browse to the saved file and double click it. Click the "Install MarkMyScriptures" button. The click one of the scripture file buttons as well. When the file is installed a check mark will appear next to it in the installer dialog.

I just hotsynced new files but they are not in my documents list.
Click the Refresh button at the bottom of the documents screen in MarkMyScriptures.  This will bring newly installed files into view.

How do I move my notes and topics from an old device to a new one?
Palm users:  Use Windows Find File to search for files name *topics*.pdb and *marks*.pdb.  Copy and save all these files to a new folder.  When you have installed MarkMyScriptures and a scripture file to your new device, copy the contents of that new folder to your install directory and do a hotsync.  Click Refresh on the Documents page in MarkMyScriptures to bring up your notes, etc.

CE users:  Use the CE Backup Utility found on the Downloads page.  

I lost everything on my device. How do I get all my MarkMyScriptures stuff back?

Lost files: If you have lost your MarkMyScriptures, MMSWeb or scripture files you can re-download them from the Downloads page of our website. There is never a charge to download. Enter your registration code  on your PDA or in MMSWeb to reactivate your registered status.

Backup Palm:  Your notes, marks, and topics are automatically backed up when you hotsync.  If you do not hotsync regularly and lose battery power or have corrupted files whatever is not backed up is lost.  To protect notes, marks and topics when installing new files, or to re-install them after a data loss, do the following:

• Use Windows Find File to search for files named *marks*.pdb and *topics*.pdb.  Copy these files to a separate location when installing new files, to be sure they will not be overwritten or erased.
• When new files have been installed, copy all marks.pdb and topics.pdb files to your Install directory and do a hotsync.  Hit Refresh on the Documents page in MarkMyScriptures.  Your notes, marks and topics should be restored.

Backup CE: No MarkMyScriptures files, including marks, notes, topics and documents are backed up when you Activesync.  To protect your data, download and install the free CE Backup Utility and run it regularly with your device attached to the computer to back up files.  In case of data loss, simply use the Restore function in the utility to reinstall your notes, marks and topics.

Installing with Windows Vista

To run MMSWeb with Windows Vista right click the MMSWeb icon on your desktop and run the program as the administrator.  You must do this even if you are already logged in as the administrator.
